Deans by dorm
Until they declare majors, all students are served by the academic deans in the Academic Advising Center. Your academic dean has been assigned to you based on your East Campus residence hall and will remain your dean until you declare your major.

Academic deans
In addition to your academic advisor, you have an academic dean who is responsible for ensuring that you are making progress toward your degree requirements. Your dean articulates and enforces Trinity College’s academic rules and regulations, and assists you when you have academic questions or concerns.
You can find the name of your dean on ACES. Click on the Academics button from the main menu and then select the Academic Info link.
Dean Michele Rasmussen is the director of the Academic Advising Center. She can also meet with you if your assigned academic dean is unavailable.
Meeting with your dean
In general, you are not required to see your academic dean at predetermined times during the semester. However, if you are experiencing academic difficulties, your dean may contact you and invite you to come in for a meeting. It is in your best interest to respond to these requests, as your dean is in the best position to help you deal effectively with problems that are affecting your grades.
During the year your dean will send you e-mails reminding you of important dates, deadlines, and procedures. It is important that you read these e-mails so that you stay informed about Trinity policies and regulations. Your dean may also host or participate in academic advising programs that you are welcome to attend.
Your parents and your dean
The academic deans welcome calls and e-mails from parents who have questions or concerns about their son’s or daughter’s progress and well-being at Duke. We can also help parents understand Trinity College policies and regulations and refer them to other people and resources on campus as needed.
It is college policy for the academic deans to notify your parents whenever there is a change in your status, such as when you are placed on academic probation or withdrawn from the university.
